• When scoring, if Spider is in your Yard, Spider counts as -2 VP and no cards underneath Spider are counted towards your score.

  • Treat all cards under Spider as though they do not exist. You cannot use their actions, they do not count towards scoring, and they are not counted by other cards. For example, if there is a Bamboo in your Yard with a Spider on top of the Bamboo, the Bamboo’s start of turn (✹) ability does not trigger, the Bamboo is not counted by Garden Gnome when scoring, and Sylvia does not count the Bamboo when you attempt to sway her.

  • Pest cards are also ignored when there is a Spider above them. For example, if there is a Skunk in your Yard with Spider on top of it, do not count the Skunk’s -5 VP when scoring, and you may sway Neighbors because you ignore the Skunk’s ability.

  • If a Spider is on top of another Spider, you ignore all cards under the top-most Spider. So Dennis, for example, would only count the top-most Spider and would ignore the lower Spider.

  • The order of the Pile matters: Cards above Spider are counted. If a card rearranges your Yard such that there are cards above Spider in a Pile, only the cards underneath Spider are ignored.

  • Grass and Dirt are not cards, and so they are not ignored and still count towards your score.

  • If your lawn ornaments are covered with spiders, consider cleaning more frequently.
